The handheld camera market is about to get a lot more crowded. Prominent Chinese tipster Digital Chat Station has shared new details suggesting that both Oppo and Vivo are independently developing compact gimbal cameras, and the specs sound flagship, to say the very least.
Both devices are said to pack a 200MP sensor on a 1/1.12-inch imaging chip. The specs matches to that of Sony’s LYT-901 sensor, although the tipster hasn’t shared the exact sensor details.
The branding angle is interesting too. Oppo’s version may carry a Hasselblad co-branding, while Vivo’s could come with Zeiss on the label, the same partnerships both brands already use on their flagship smartphones. Both cameras are also said to run on high-end processors, though exact chip names have not been confirmed yet.
Oppo and Vivo’s handhelds will also offer ecosystem integration
One of the more practical features mentioned in the leak is ecosystem integration. Both devices will support seamless interconnection with their respective smartphones, meaning photos and videos captured on the pocket camera can be transferred, edited, and shared directly through your phone without any friction.
We first reported Vivo’s vlogging camera plans back in February, and Oppo’s internal project codenamed “Fuyao” was confirmed more recently. Vivo is reportedly preparing an initial inventory of around one million units, suggesting strong expectations for the product.
Industry analysts believe smartphone makers entering this segment could shake up a market currently dominated by DJI and Insta360, given their strengths in imaging algorithms, AI processing, and competitive pricing.
Both devices are expected to launch before the end of 2026.
